Vonitsa is a beach town in Sterea / Central Greece on the Ambracian Gulf, dominated by a well preserved Venetian fortress on a hill. It is located 13 km from Preveza, 18 km from Lefkada and 90 km northwest of Agrinio. Vonitsa is built near the site of the ancient Anactorium, an important city of Acarnania, founded by the Korinthians in 630 BC. There are forests, lakes, rivers, rocky and sandy beaches and a green islet connected by a bridge, ideal for walking.
